The Much Music Video Awards were first held in 1990 as the Canadian Music Video Awards. In 1995, they have renamed the Much Music Video Awards. After Much’s parent company, Bell Media, struck a license arrangement with iHeartMedia in 2016, the show was relaunched under the iHeartRadio name.  The show’s full title was formally discarded in 2018.
