Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, created the series. Kevin S. Bright, Kauffman, and Crane were the original executive producers.
Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California, was used for shooting. Friends placed in the top five of the final television season ratings for all ten seasons, finally hitting number one in the eighth season. The series finale premiered on May 6, 2004, to an estimated 52.5 million viewers in the United States, making it the fifth most-watched series finale in television history and the most-watched television episode of the 2000s.
